Raw cocoa is packed with potent antioxidants called flavonoids (see chart below). Scientific studies demonstrate that flavonoids reduce inflammation, protect the body from cancer, reduce allergic reactions, lower blood pressure, improve cognitive function and boost the immune system.
Raw cocoa also contains over 300 known nutrients including calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, copper, zinc, manganese, vitamins C and E, and B-vitamins.
Cocoa butter contains healthy mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids-stearic acid, palmitic acid, and oleic acid-which contribute to a healthy lipid profile. It also contains soluble and insoluble fiber, which lowers cholesterol and protects the heart and colon.
